Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on Youtube. Our channel has over 18 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Our studio is filled with incredibly talented and passionate artists that are determined to change the way animation is produced and treated in the industry. Our biggest IP; Digital Circus, has amassed over 350 million views on the pilot alone and we have a lot more still to come.

Role Information: 

We are seeking a talented 2D Line Artist to bring our characters, props, and environments to life. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Art Director and Color Artists to produce polished, production-ready line art across a variety of established intellectual properties.

This is a remote, freelance position with an initial 3-month test period. Ongoing arrangements are available depending on your profile.

Primary Duties

  • Line Art Production: Create clean, polished line art for characters, props, and backgrounds based on thumbnails provided by the Art Director.
  • Model Accuracy: Maintain precise proportions, designs, and visual consistency across all illustrations using existing model sheets.
  • Creative Fidelity: Preserve the original artistic intent and composition of the initial thumbnails.
  • Pipeline Integration: Prepare clean, organised, and properly structured files to ensure a seamless handover to the coloring phase.
  • Iterative Polish: Implement feedback from the Art Director efficiently to meet project standards.

Secondary Duties

  • Concept Support: Generate thumbnails and composition proposals to assist the art direction team when required.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

  • Draftsmanship: Exceptional drawing and construction skills for characters, props, and environments.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to follow defined visual styles, interpret rough sketches, and transform them into finished artwork.
  • Technical Layout: Solid understanding of perspective; comfort using 3D blocking for environment layouts is highly valued.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced, professional mastery of Adobe Photoshop.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills with a receptive attitude toward constructive feedback.
  • Workflow Discipline: Ability to adapt smoothly to an established studio creation pipeline.
  • Language: Professional working proficiency in written and spoken English.

Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with print workflows, technical specifications, and production constraints.
  • Experience utilising studio organisation and project management tools (e.g., Airtable).
