Glitch Productions is an independent animation studio based in Australia making original, long form animated shows distributed on YouTube. Our channel has over 16 million subscribers, tens of millions of views per episode and is still growing strong. Our studio is filled with incredibly talented and passionate artists that are determined to change the way animation is produced and treated in the industry. Our biggest IP; Digital Circus, has amassed over 350 million views on the pilot alone and we have a lot more still to come.
Role Information:
Glitch Productions is looking for a Head of Technology to lead the design, architecture, and execution of the company’s technical vision. This role will see you overseeing all aspects of our technological infrastructure, including our IT infrastructure, internal systems, production technology, and operations, ensuring that every department is supported by scalable, reliable, and well-integrated systems.
Working closely with our technology departments, you’ll help design and maintain the systems that power our 3D and 2D animation, marketing, brand, consumer products, and company operations. Each division has its own unique workflows and tools, with the Tech team providing support in varying capacities, working closely with some departments while offering consultative or implementation support to others.
The company’s technology departments under your leadership will be a strategic partner to every corner of the studio, helping design and architect new systems and infrastructure that improve efficiency and position Glitch for long-term success.
Your duties will include:
- Overseeing and guiding company technology, including IT infrastructure, internal systems, production technology, and technical operations.
- Developing and executing the wider technology strategy, leading the IT team and overseeing daily operations, systems and ensuring tight cybersecurity protocols.
- Designing and architecting systems and solutions for the wider company based on their needs and priorities.
- Identifying the critical path and determining priorities that drive the greatest technology impact toward our company goals.
- Analysing and scaling our core technology environment.
- Collaborating with executives and departments to deliver effective tech solutions.
- Integrating new platforms and tools into existing workflows across all departments in the company.
- Ensuring the company is compliant with industry wide cybersecurity standards, ensuring data protection and mitigating risk.
- Overseeing software assets, managing licensing and vendor relationships.
- Leading the rollout of internal systems that improve efficiency and production.
- Reviewing and approving technology proposals, purchases, and strategies.
- Mentoring, upskilling and leading the technology division.
- Defining and maintaining technology policies, and security standards.
- Partnering with leadership to shape and execute technology direction.
A successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience leading IT, infrastructure, or technology teams, ideally within a media, production, or creative environment.
- Foundational knowledge of hardware infrastructure with the ability to evaluate and deliver detailed plans for growth.
- Experience working in Engineering environments, blending programming experience into operations and the wider business.
- Design and implement tools and scripts - sound understanding of C++, Python.
- Strong technical expertise across systems architecture, networking, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and scaling internal technology systems and infrastructure.
- Proven ability to integrate third-party tools and platforms into existing business workflows.
- Expertise in managing and optimising Microsoft Active Directory and Google Workspace environments.
- Experience collaborating with non-technical teams to deliver practical technology solutions.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and deliver complex technology initiatives.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with experience in mentoring and developing technical staff.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
Bonus Skills:
- An understanding or experience with the arts, animation, gaming, and/or ‘internet nerd’ culture.
- Engaging personality and willingness to learn.
- Positive, go-getter attitude with a passion for making things.
- Experience with Unreal Engine
- Experience with Storage systems, rendering and processing in the world of media production
